Secondary School Competition

Two proposals have been received which express an interest in running the proposed new secondary school that is due to open in the north of the Borough in September 2015. These are from:

Kingston Educational Trust – A partnership between the Local Authority, Kingston College and Kingston University for a Trust school.

Southwark Diocesan Board of Education for a Voluntary Aided Church of England School

A public meeting will be held on Friday 24 September 2010 at Fern Hill Primary School, Richmond Road, Kingston, KT2 5PE starting at 6.30pm. Both prospective school providers will be in attendance to present their bid and to answer questions from the audience.

Comments can be made on the proposals received from 10 September to 22 October 2010. The decision on who will provide the school will then be made by the Independent Office of the Schools Adjudicator.

A summary document will be issued on 10 September 2010, with hard copies delivered to all properties in the Kingston Town Neighbourhood area and to parents/carers of all children currently attending a Kingston Primary School. The document will summarise the two bids and provide a response form to provide views.
