Dennis Doe came with Carolyn from the North East of England in I963 to begin there married life in Kingston. Their three children all went to local Primary and Secondary schools. Before retiring from paid employment Dennis worked within the Shell Group of companies before becoming a Management Consultant in a blue-chip Marketing Consultancy. Carolyn taught in a nearby Junior school until the children were born.
Dennis has been a Councillor since 1986 and has represented Tudor Ward since 1994. Significant achievements in Tudor include setting up the Hawker Centre with the YMCA as the managers, playing a major role in founding the Fern Hill Primary school, leading the development of Canbury Gardens as we know them today, sharing in protecting Tudor Drive Library from closure and improving the Tudor Hall.
His major role through his nearly 24 years on the Council has been in helping to oversee the Borough’s Education provision. He is recognised as being arguably the most informed and experienced Councillor in that important area of the Council’s work. He is currently a Governor of Tolworth Girls school, in his 31st year, and has just joined the Board of Fern Hill.
Dennis has chaired many major Committees and Working Group over the last 23 + years. In 2003 / 04 he and Carolyn were Mayor and Mayoress of the Royal Borough, raising a record £53,000+ for his “TummyCam” charity, - an investigatory facility now much in demand at Kingston Hospital.
